Let’s Start Talking – Fundamentos de Español 2 is the second course in a series of conversational Spanish courses created by The Language School. This course is to help people speak Spanish at work, in their local communities, and while traveling in the Spanish speaking world, including Latin America, the United States, and Spain.

Once the student completes this course, he or she will have solid conversational skills for speaking with Spanish speakers and adding detail to their conversations.   Furthermore, this course takes a deep dive into the difference between SER and ESTAR, but simplifies this concept in a way that makes it easy to learn for English speakers.  You will also learn useful information about the culture of Spanish speakers in order to be able to not only speak Spanish but understand the customs of the various countries and socialize with new friends.

Course Overview

We are preparing for having more detailed conversations at work and in your community, as well as for  travel.  After 3 months, you WILL be much more conversational and be able to do the following in Spanish:

  • Add detail to conversations (Detalle)
  • Make friends (Amistad)
  • Speak professionally (Profesional)

 *We also teach the cultural differences for each of these topics.

Key Spanish conversational and cultural skills will be:

Conversation, so Let’s Start Talking! On top of basic conversational skills, students will learn cultural and historical lessons that will help prepare them for interacting with Spanish speaking people locally and abroad.

  • Making friends in Spanish speaking countries
  • Describing people and conditions in detail
  • Talking to strangers and being polite
  • Shopping for clothes
  • Going grocery shopping
  • Mexico, Colombia
  • Mariachi Culture
  • Telling time like a native
  • Daily routines

Key grammar will be:

  • Regular verbs
  • Talking in the 3rd person
  • Ser/estar
  • Usted, vosotros, ustedes
  • Numbers (0-100)
