LET’S START TALKING!
We have developed a new, customizable set of activity materia Is that world language teachers can use to introduce haptics and nonverbal communication to the classroom.
lt is estimated that anywhere from 70-93% of communication is nonverbal. The clothes you wear, the distance you stand between another person, and showing up on time or being late all communicate strong messages, but have nothing to do with language. Haptics is one aspect of nonverbal communication that deals with touch. In my first lesson of Spanish and English, I teach my students the appropriate way to greet people depending on the target culture.
