Position Concept

Mile High United Way is seeking resumes from dynamic and results-driven candidates who want to directly and positively impact the community in the position of Project Manager, United Neighborhoods. This newly created position will be part of a team responsible for driving Mile High United Way’s United Neighborhoods work forward. United Neighborhoods is a collective impact initiative that brings together the resources and services necessary to respond to the most pressing community issues and address the root causes of poverty to build long-lasting community change. The Project Manager will report to the United Neighborhoods Senior Director and provides support in strategy development and implementation, as well as support in day-to-day administration, communications, and resource mobilization.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategy

  •   Responsible for identifying and developing comprehensive strategies that

    address community needs.

  •   Responsible for anticipating and addressing challenges in program

    implementation.

  •   In partnership with Senior Director, provide support to partner organizations in

    aligning their work to the Common Agenda (e.g., identifying opportunities for

    program work to support specific goals);

  •   In partnership with Senior Director, work with governance council and work

    groups to ensure strategic alignment across efforts, goals, and outcomes, and

    help resolve discrepancies in overall direction of the initiative.

  •   In partnership with Senior Director, align UN activities across internal

    departments.

    Communications

  •   Communicate the objectives of United Neighborhoods to the community and

    potential partners, including sharing vision documents, work plans, and other

    key documentation

  •   Facilitate ongoing communication between United Neighborhoods partners by

    hosting regular in-person meetings and coordinating regular email updates to ensure alignment of activity

 
 
 

 Establish a communication plan and schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff on the progress of the initiative.

Resource Mobilization
 Work with Senior Director and Resource Development team to identify

potential funding sources to support United Neighborhoods goals and

priorities
Track all United Neighborhoods funding, including allocated funds for partner organizations

Administration:

  •   Develop and maintain a list of community partners and upcoming community

    events;

  •   Organize outreach against that list of community partners and upcoming

    events, including following-up as needed;

  •   Plan, manage logistics of, and attend community events and workgroup

    meetings. This includes serving as a scribe at meetings and disseminating

    meeting notes.

  •   Develop project progress reports and other documents related to United

    Neighborhoods achievements, as requested

    Skills:

  •   Advanced project management skills with experience defining project objectives, developing project plans, timelines, and identifying critical success factors

  •   Demonstrated experience executing project management plans and reports on project performance

  •   Experience understanding and analyzing data to create effective solutions.

  •   Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

    with staff, community members, and senior executives

  •   Demonstrated experience connecting and communicating with different

    stakeholders

  •   Demonstrated experience working in an entrepreneurial environment and

    adapting quickly to changes

  •   Flexibility and the ability to work autonomously as well as take direction as

    needed

  •   Experience producing status reports, communicating tactfully and candidly,

    and using different platforms to reach diverse audiences.

  •   Demonstrated ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively

    interact with people across a variety of racial, ethnic, social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.

 
 
 

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree, be proficient in English and Spanish (preferred), and possess a minimum of three years of relevant work experience (e.g., project management, etc.)
